Schouwen-Duiveland is the most northern island of the province of Zeeland with the well-known seaside resorts Burgh-Haamstede and Renesse and the beautiful medieval towns of Zierikzee and Brouwershaven. The fishing port Bruinisse is situated on the eastern part of the island. Schouwen-Duiveland is connected with the rest of Netherlands by the famous Oosterscheldekering, the Zeeland bridge and the Grevelingendam and the Brouwersdam. The Westhoek on Schouwen-Duiveland offers more than 20 kilometers of pristine beaches located directly on a 300 hectare nature area with pine and deciduous trees. On the island there are beautiful biking trails through the dunes and the polders and along the sea and the Oosterschelde. You can drive around the whole island on separate cycle paths.
