Our rental cottage has thick stone walls so is cool in summer and warm in winter. There is a woodburner to make it extra cosy in the colder months. It has a mezzanine bedroom and a second smaller bedroom. There is a double bed and 3 single beds. Outside is a patio with a hammock and easy chairs. It is just a 100 metre stroll to the river which is very quiet and secluded... perfect for sun bathing, wild swimming, kayak/paddle boarding. It is possible to see kingfishers, otters and egyptian mongoose in the area as well as countless other birds. We keep horses on the farm and offer riding in the mountains or lessons in our sandschool, we also have 3 cycles which are for the free use of our guests.

The cottage is surrounded by woodland on our farm, the nearest tiny shop/bar is 1k, in the summer there is a river bar which is a relaxing way to enjoy the summer sun, it is just 1.5k from our farm. There is a bigger village 2k which has a nice supermarket. Gois is a very pretty larger village on the river banks. It is 5k from us and has a great cafe/bar built right on the river, in the summer you can drink a beer with your feet in the water! You are welcome to use our 3 bikes to explore the local area. Coimbra is the 3rd largest City in Portugal and is 45 mins drive. It boasts one of the oldest universities and library in the world and has museums/churches hidden amongst cobbled alleys and steep narrow streets leading down to the beautiful river Mondego. There are many cafe's and restaurants on the river banks. Conimbriga is a very interesting roman ruin site, the Palace of Busaco is also worth a visit boasting 700 different varieties of trees collected by the monks from their travels around the globe in the 17th century. Our local area is very relaxing and quiet, there is not much night life although we do offer evening meals served on our veranda overlooking the river which means you can enjoy an evening drink without worrying about driving.

We are located 2 hours from Porto and 2.5 hours from Lisbon airports. Car hire is cheap but if you don't want to drive then trains are very good. There is a through train from Lisbon and Porto to Coimbra. From Coimbra we can pick you up for a fee of 20 euros.
